We are incredibly grateful to Amy Anderson and George Somero for supporting Big Sur Land Trustfor 25 years and for being long-time members of our [Land & Legacy Society]! Recently, they shared their perspectives on why the Land Trust is part of their estate planning.

As time passes, I have occasionally reflected on what my legacy might mean. While my dad was around my age, he told me that people seldom regret acts of kindness or generosity.

I helped start Ohio’s Western Reserve Land Conservancy, so Sandra and I bring a unique understanding and appreciation for the importance of Big Sur Land Trust’s mission,” Bruce Merchant explains. “I am grateful to Big Sur Land Trust for preserving land throughout our county in an ‘unpaved’ state.

Now in her 90s, Joyce Stevens has been close to the land and nature ever since her childhood in Anchorage, Alaska. “We’d go out our door and there’d be gorgeous blueberries in the summer. It would be -10 degrees in winter but we’d see pink and blue northern lights hanging in the night sky. It was magic.”
